One of the reasons Jimmy Butler supposedly requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves was he didn't feel like he could compete against elite teams with Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns by his side.

Butler reportedly had issues with Wiggins’ work ethic and approach on defense during the 2017-18 season. When Butler practiced for the first time with the Timberwolves after requesting a trade, he reportedly went out of his way to challenge Wiggins and Towns.

The 30-year-old repeatedly yelled “they soft, they soft” during a scrimmage. Most of the players on the team knew Butler was referring to Wiggins and Towns.

However, as we fast forward to today, it appears Butler and Wiggins are on good terms:

After his trade last season from the Timberwolves, Butler said he had spoken to Wiggins a few times. However, he hasn't spoken to Towns. Butler and Towns’ relationship was believed to be more tenuous than Butler and Wiggins’ relationship.

Butler is now on the Miami Heat, while Wiggins is looking to jump-start his career with the Golden State Warriors.

Butler and the Heat are one of the best teams in the NBA. The Warriors, meanwhile, will miss the playoffs this season for the first time in the Steve Kerr era. The Dubs will use the rest of the campaign to evaluate Wiggins and see how they can bring out the best in him before stars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson come back in 2020-21.
