Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota plans to do the best he can to try to be on the field for the crucial Week 17 game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night.

Mariota suffered a stinger in his throwing elbow in last week's game against the Washington Redskins, which caused him to leave the game in the first half.

Blaine Gabbert was under the center the rest of the way, and he did enough to lead the Titans to a 20-16 victory.

However, in a win or go home game against the Colts, it's clear that Mike Vrabel and his staff would love to have their starting quarterback back in action.

Here's what Mariota had to say about his current status, courtesy of Titans senior writer Jim Wyatt:

“Just taking it day to day,” Mariota said during his regular weekly appearance on 104.5-FM’s “Wake Up Zone” on Wednesday morning. “I am doing my best, (trying) to get back. That’s all I can do. I’ll do everything in my power to see if I can go. Again, it is just taking it one day at a time.”

Mariota has thrown for 2,528 yards and 11 touchdowns this year, and while consistency has been an issue at times, he's obviously played a significant role in helping Tennessee be in this spot entering the final week of the regular season.

So, the Titans will need all the help they can get against Andrew Luck and company, as this figures to be one of the most entertaining games of the week due to the high stakes involved.
