The Tennessee Titans are coming off their first trip to the NFL playoffs in years that brought a strong level of optimism around the franchise. Much of which has centered the hope that quarterback Marcus Mariota can breakthrough with a promising campaign that can push the franchise for another huge step.

However, Mariota is coming off a season where he took some steps back in his play on the field despite the team reaching the postseason. In response to that, he worked toward getting back on track this offseason that the latest effort including throwing to his receivers in a workout over this past weekend, according to Jim Wyatt of Titansonline.com.

The players – receivers and tight ends – worked together on Saturday and Sunday at an area football field

There has been a strong push by the 24-year-old to get back on track after struggling with consistency in the 2017 season. Mariota had experienced some regression in his play on the field last season throwing 13 less than touchdowns while committing six more interceptions in the process. This comes just a year after he threw for a career-high 26 touchdown passes that helped him earn a spot as a Pro Bowl alternate.

At the same time, this is an opportunity for Mariota to continue to build chemistry with his young receiving core that includes Corey Davis, Rishard Matthews, Taywan Taylor and Tajae Sharpe. If the Titans are to take the next leap toward being a real playoff contender, it will require their group of wideouts to become more prominent factors in the passing game.

With there being a few more weeks until the start of training camp, Mariota may use this window of time to build more on-the-field chemistry with his receivers.
