The Tennessee Titans and head coach Mike Vrabel managed to retain Pro Bowl running back Derrick Henry by inking him to a long-term contract extension earlier this offseason.

After leading the league in rushing last season, Henry doesn't appear to have slowed down at all throughout the offseason as Vrabel has continued to praise the workhorse running back for setting the tone during training camp.

“Everybody understands his work ethic, the way he finishes runs,” Vrabel said, via ESPN. “Again, we're not tackling anybody. It's just that he's working on conditioning while we play. Everybody's working on their own football conditioning, allow us to finish longer. Our offensive lineman run downfield looking for extra blocks. Our defensive players are going full tilt without a tackle and trying to hammer the ball out. We're trying to learn how to practice like pros.”

Despite the fact that NFL running backs have had a hard time getting paid over the course of the last several seasons, the Titans still managed to come to terms with Henry on a four-year contract after initially placing the team's franchise tag on him to begin the offseason. As a result of the agreement, Henry will reportedly be paid a total of $50 million with $25.5 million coming in the form of guaranteed money.

“If you set the tone of practice, that sets the standards of what practice should be like from start to finish,” Vrabel added, via ESPN. “That's what I try to do, and that's what coach Vrabel preaches.”

After reaching the postseason as the AFC's sixth and final seed, the Titans defeated both the heralded New England Patriots and top-seeded Baltimore Ravens, respectively, en route to an appearance in the AFC Championship Game against the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
