Tennessee Titans wide receiver Adam Humphries left the team's Week 8 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals just before halftime after suffering a concussion in a momentarily scary incident.

Humphries went over the middle and attempted to haul in a pass from quarterback Ryan Tannehill with 21 seconds left in the second quarter, but Bengals safety Jessie Bates nailed him in the head as he came down with the ball. The play, which would have set up a 29-yard field goal attempt, was initially ruled a completion before being overturned.

After the hit, Humphries lay motionless on the field with team trainers surrounding him and his teammates taking knees. Fortunately, he was able to get up on his own after a few minutes and climb onto the cart instead of being taken out on a stretcher.

Early in the third quarter, he was deemed out for the rest of the game.

Afterward, head coach Mike Vrabel provided an update on Adam Humphries' condition, per Jim Wyatt of Titans Online.

“He is up and moving around. I don't think he feels great, but he is moving around, and he is doing better than what it looked like when he left the field.”

Adam Humphries is amid his second season with the Titans after spending four years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has 22 receptions for 219 yards and two touchdowns in 2020.

Tennessee lost at Cincinnati, 31-20 — their second defeat in a row — dropping them to 5-2.

The Titans will host the Chicago Bears (5-3) at Nissan Stadium in Week 9. If Humphries can't pass concussion protocol, Vrabel will lean on Kalif Raymond and possibly Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to fill the void at wide receiver, in addition to usual contributors Corey Davis and A.J. Brown.
