Tennessee Titans starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill was put on the reserve/Covid-19 list Thursday.

It was just back in July that the Titans' QB1 said, “I wouldn't have gotten the vaccine without the protocols they're (NFL) forcing on us.”

So it does sound like Tannehill was indeed vaccinated but still ended up on the reserve/Covid-19 list. Earlier in the week, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel actually tested positive.

If there's any positive to be taken from this strictly from a football perspective it's that both Vrabel and Tannehill are on the list now and not during the regular season. The Titans shouldn't have to worry about a backup plan for Week 1 pending that Tannehill recovers smoothly.

The Titans are set to be a real player again in the AFC South this year. The Houston Texans are a mess and don't have a starting quarterback named yet and the Jacksonville Jaguars are in year one of a rebuild with Trevor Lawrence running the show at quarterback. Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts are keeping their fingers crossed that both Carson Wentz and Quenton Nelson are back for Week 1 or shorty there after.

Tennessee is trying to claim the division again after winning it in 2020 while going 11-5. They ultimately fell to the Baltimore Ravens on Wildcard weekend 20-13. But, after adding Julio Jones in the offseason, this Titans offense is hoping to take another big step forward.

Now they'll await the return of their quarterback.
