The Tennessee Titans have had struggles on special teams this season and they could be without their starting kicker in Week 17 versus the Houston Texans. According to the team's official Twitter account, Stephen Gostkowski has been placed on the COVID-19 reserve list.

Gostkowski joined the Titans ahead of the 2020 season in hopes to fix Tennessee's kicking woes from last season. Last season, the conglomerate of kickers that played for the Titans combined to make eight of their 18 attempts for a league-worst 44.4 conversion rate.

Despite adding Gostkowski to change the outlook on their kicker situation, the veteran kicker hasn't had much success with the Titans. In Tennessee's first 15 games, Gostkowski has made only 18 of his 26 field-goal attempts for a league-low 69.2 conversion rate.

At the least, Gostkowski has been nearly automatic on his extra-point tries, making 46 of his 48 attempts this season. Still, it's safe to say the Titans aren't content with how Gostkowski has performed in his first season with the organization.

Of course, the Titans have already dealt with a COVID-19 outbreak earlier this season. Given that, it will be worth monitoring Gostkowski's situation to see if the team violated any of the league's protocols again.

Back in November, the Titans added Sam Sloman to their practice squad to give them an emergency kicker on the roster. Sloman is a rookie seventh-round pick who was selected by the Los Angeles Rams, only to be released after seven games this season.

In his seven games with the Rams, Sloman made eight of his 11 field-goal attempts while missing three of his 21 extra-point tries. With the Titans needing to secure the AFC South title in Week 17, they may not have Gostkowski available against the Texans.
