The Tennesee Titans offense is still looking to find its footing through the first two games of the 2018 NFL season. Wide receiver Rishard Matthews is hoping to help them do so.

Matthews has not garnered much attention in the offense thus far. According to Terry McCormick of titaninsider.com, he feels he is ready to take on an expanded role:

“I don’t know,” Matthews said when asked if he was getting enough reps and opportunities. “Not enough, in my opinion.”

“I feel like I’m 100 percent,” Matthews said.

There is certainly plenty of truth to Matthews' comments. He has not been given much attention from Tennessee's quarterbacks thus far. Despite being the team's top wideout over the last few years, he has appeared in just 54 snaps while registering two catches for eight yards through the first two games.

Of course, there is good reason for Matthews' slow start. For starters, the veteran is coming off a knee injury he had been nursing prior to the start of the regular season. With all the new changes the Titans made this offseason, it was essential for them to work with what they had during the offseason. This may have resulted in Matthews sliding down the pecking order.

Furthermore, Tennessee is currently dealing with a bit of a quarterback conundrum of their own. Quarterback Marus Mariota is looking to come back from an elbow injury he suffered in the season opener. It appears Matthews has had some trouble building a rapport with backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert. Regardless, it is clear that he will be doing what he can to expand his role in the coming weeks.
