You probably have the platform of your choice – the platform where you’ll buy all of the games that are cross-platform. But for these upcoming PC games exclusives, you don’t have much choice on the matter. You can only play these games on PC when they come out. So, here are the top 10 upcoming PC games exclusives coming out this year.
Top 10 upcoming PC games exclusives not coming to consoles (As of January 7, 2022)
Kingdoms of the Dump (Roach Games, October 2022)
Kingdoms of the Dump is a passion project by developers who have a deep love for classic JRPGs. In fact, the game’s development started out as an Earthbound fan game until Roach Games decided to just make a game out of their own IP. After successful funding over Kickstarter back in 2019, the game will finally release after six years of development in October 2022. While that’s still so much far ahead into the future, be sure to keep this game in your sights. This is one of those games that people would tend to overlook, only to hear about them as one of the greats later on.
Baldur’s Gate 3 (Larian Studios, Sometime 2022)
This is one of the biggest games to be coming out next year – a game that comes from a lineage of amazing CRPGs. Baldur’s Gate III launched in Early Access in October 2021, but the full version of the game won’t be coming out until next year. But even in Early Access, the game is already phenomenal. Sure, some of the game’s cutscenes still aren’t implemented and are narrated instead, but you do get the entire gameplay experience with just the Early Access. If you wish to try the game out already this early, you can get it on Steam. Once the game comes out in full, you’ll also get that as well.
Total War: Warhammer 3 (Creative Assembly, February 17, 2022)
There’s been a lot of buzz for Total War: Warhammer 3. Why wouldn’t there be, given that those who have been wholeheartedly supporting the series since the first will get immensely rewarded when this game comes out early next year. If you’re into large war maps, then you better get the first two games, as you’ll be able to play all three maps from the three games combined into one epic campaign map if you own all three games. Now, whether or not your system can carry the weight is another issue, but the very idea itself is very exciting. Throw in a whole lot of new factions and special units, and you have a totally epic game in your hands.
The Outlast Trials (Red Barrels, Sometime 2022)
Originally set to release this year, this one got pushed back to 2022 thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Set in the Cold War, The Outlast Trials is a first-person psychological horror survival video game prequel to Outlast 1 and 2. It was supposed to be released as a sort of DLC or expansion for Outlast 2, but was made into its own game instead. Described as a “TV series” by Red Barrels, we could expect the game to have some sort of episodic release or story structure, similar to the original Alan Wake and Life is Strange. In this game, you play as one of the test subjects of the Murkoff Corporation in a mysterious Cold War experiment. Would you be able to survive and make it out alive?
Syberia: The World Before (Microids, March 31, 2022)
Syberia: The World Before is a graphic adventure game that continues the story of Syberia. In it, you follow the intertwined stories of Dana Roze and Kate Walker. The game has a very immersive and graphically impressive world. One of the most well-paced games out there, expect to take your time in solving puzzles and exploring areas of interests. If you like narrative-heavy exploration games, then this one’s for you.
The Sons of the Forest (Endnight Games, Sometime 2022)
This one is among the ones in our Top 10 upcoming PC games list that is most recently revealed. This is a follow-up game of the popular survival horror game The Forest. Sons of the Forest is set to one-up the previous game in everything: scarier monsters, better crafting options, better fighting controls, better environments, and even better graphics. Only recently revealed, the game has no release date yet.
Company of Heroes 3 (Relic Entertainment, Late 2022)
Relic Entertainment is really looking to bring back the former glory of the RTS genre. With this year’s Age of Empires 4, what we’re getting next is Company of Heroes 3. While not as seminal as Age of Empires, Company of Heroes was still one of the best RTS series from the golden years of the RTS genre. Even today, many players compete in multiplayer of Company of Heroes 2, showing just how good the game is and how much longevity it has. The next in the series will surely bring players back in and we’re excited to see how Relic Entertainment will innovate in this series in its next iteration – one of which is the tactical pause system, a new in the series.
Dune: Spice Wars (Shiro Games, Sometime 2022)
This one was a proper surprise during E3, although we could say not totally out of the left field. There was a new Dune game, after all, but we didn’t really expect a new game out of the franchise this soon. With an action-packed sci-fi movie like Dune, we most totally didn’t expect a strategy game to come out of the latest film. But it’s not at all surprising either – the Dune franchise has spawned board games and equally cerebral games in the past. This feels like a new breed of trading post base-building strategy games by the looks of it – really looking forward to its release.
Freedom Planet 2 (GalaxyTrail, Early 2022)
Announced way back in 2015, Freedom Planet 2 will finally arrive in Early Access this Early 2022. Sonic the Hedgehog serves as an inspiration to this series, and you get to play one of three anthropomorphic characters in this game. It has been a long time coming, and finally, the game will arrive next year. Here’s to hoping that it’ll be just as good as the first one.
Homeworld 3 (Blackbird Interactive, Q4 2022)
After three years in development, the rebirth of the Homeworld space RTS franchise is finally coming. With Gearbox at its head, Homeworld 3 has so much more potential than it ever had before. We’re excited to see how this space RTS will turn out. If you haven’t noticed yet, we’re really big on RTS games here, and this is one of the upcoming PC games we’re really looking forward to.
