Holster your guns and start your engines. Creative Apex Legends fans have created a fully-functional racer within the game's engine, the Trident Cup. Mathew “Spear” Morales and Karl “Sparkz” Abrahamsson, two moderators from the official ApexLore subreddit Discord server, crafted the whole racer based on the game's new Olympus map.

The Trident Cup isn't a simple metagame within a round of Apex Legends. The modders created a full combat racer almost completely divorced from the Apex' battle royale mechanics. One of the creators stated that the addition of vehicles in Apex Legends' seventh season pretty much guaranteed that a racer would soon follow.

“It’s not like a crazy idea, a lot of people have thought about the races. It was a matter of who would do it first and who would actually pull it off.”

Unfortunately for others that want to try out this mode as the Trident Cup is a server-exclusive event. That is assuming Respawn Entertainment doesn't pick up the creative mod officially. The creative efforts of the team behind the Trident Cup earned them a shoutout on the official Apex Twitter account.

The success of the Trident Cup has inspired many other fans to work on mods of their own but there has been no official word from the game's developers. This passion project holds the potential to become a game of its very own. Dota was famously a game mod for WarCraft III before it was picked up officially by Valve. There's no telling where the creators will be speeding off to next but for now, they deserve an extended breather after the work they put into the Trident Cup.
