Reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz successfully defended his title against UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya during the main event of UFC 259 on Saturday night. Upon awaiting the result of the match, Blachowicz shared a laugh with Adesanya after he thought the latter was offering him a bodyguard gig. Instead, the Nigerian kickboxer was actually complimenting him for his prolific guard skills.

Indeed, the Polish wrestler's grappling moves became a pivotal aspect of his offensive attack, which he used in an effort to contain Adesanya, who is known to be the better technical striker. Through the first three rounds, both fighters didn't want to give an inch to one another as they went back-and-forth in exchanging strikes. Blachowicz eventually leaned on his ground-and-pound tactic to put up points, especially in the later rounds of the match.

After taking it to the mat, Blachowicz successfully outperformed Adesanya as he landed vicious strikes on his opponent. His impressive showing eventually allowed him to come out on top with a unanimous decision victory. Blachowicz defended his light heavyweight title by earning a 49-46, 49-45, and 49-45 advantage from the judges' scorecards to win the UFC 259 main event.

With the win, Blachowicz improved to a 28-8-0 overall record, while Adesanya suffered the first loss of his professional career and dropped to a 20-1-0 win-loss tally.

After earning praise from Israel Adesanya, Jan Blachowicz knows that the best is yet to come for his wrestling career as he seeks to defend his title once again in the near future.
