Kamaru Usman is largely expected to rematch Leon Edwards for his next UFC welterweight title defense later this year. Many are excited to see the matchup and the way the two welterweights have evolved.

In true Michael Jordan fashion, Kamaru Usman took some comments from Leon Edwards personally. The UFC welterweight champion is changing his game plan for the fight and many won't be happy with it.

“He said that if I step in there with him, I won’t be striking the way that I am now. So, I’ll oblige. I’ll give it to you, I will not strike,” Usman said in an interview with MMA Junkie.

“I am coming in to wrestle, I’m going to take him down, I’m going to beat on his face until he quits so don’t expect me to strike at all. No, I’m going to wrestle, don’t expect me to strike, don’t expect me to strike since I’m not a good striker. Don’t expect me to strike, I’m coming to take him down and I’m going to beat his face.”

Kamru Usman has an excellent wrestling base but has been showing off his striking in his past few fights. UFC 268 was a striking affair and he holds knockouts over big names like Colby Covington, Jorge Masvidal, and Gilbert Burns.

The first fight with Leon Edwards was back at UFC Orlando and it was mostly a wrestling affair that saw Kamaru Usman dominate the Englishman. It looks like he plans on doing the same thing when they meet later this year.
