In a rather shocking and graphic turn of events, Max Holloway left Saturday's UFC 276 bloodied and with a massive cut above his right eye courtesy of Alexander Volkanovski.

Volkanovski was dominant right from the start, and while Holloway had his moments, the former champion just looked a step behind “The Great.” Volk's boxing was particularly spectacular, as his massive right hand in the second round busted Holloway's eyebrow open and made life hard for him throughout.

Here are some closer looks at Max Holloway's cut, which he had to endure for three more rounds in the crazy UFC 276 bout with Alexander Volkanovski:

Volkanovski won the match via unanimous decision, with all three UFC judges scoring it 50-45. Still, props should be given to Holloway for not backing down despite the early setback that clearly bothered him.

The win for Volkanovski  also means that he's now 3-0 in his trilogy with Holloway. A lot of people questioned his rematch with Holloway in Fight Island in 2020, noting that it was the former featherweight champ that should have won the contest.

On Saturday, however, Volk made sure there will never be any doubt about his victory and dominance–ever.

It remains to be seen what's next for Holloway. As for Volkanovski, he did share his desire to move up in weight classes as he eyes a shot at the UFC’s lightweight title.
