Many came away from UFC 271 believing that there is no middleweight that currently beats Israel Adesanya. Henry Cejudo agrees but believes that Khamzat Chimaev, a welterweight, is the man to beat him.

Khamzat Chimaev is a prospect that many people are excited about in the UFC. Henry Cejudo is very confident that he's the one to defeat Israel Adesanya thanks to his wrestling.

“The guy that will stop (Adesanya) is actually a (170) pounder, and his name is Khamzat Chimaev,” Former UFC champion Cejudo said on “The Triple C & Schmo Show.”  I believe Chimaev is just a whole other animal, dude. His wrestling, his confidence. I mean, this dude – from what I’ve heard from a lot of people, this dude literally trains like nobody has ever seen before. When you’re a wrestler, and you’re like that, and he’s driven, I don’t think there’s nobody on the planet … I can see him easily beating Israel Adesanya.”

The former UFC fighter continued, “This is the reason why: Because he can take him down, and he has that Khabib (Nurmagomedov) control.”

The fight against Jan Blachowicz left many people feeling like wrestling was the key to getting past the crafty striker. Israel Adesanya showed against Robert Whittaker at UFC 271 that he is able to defend ground attacks and isn't afraid of that aspect of the game.

It's very unlikely a fight between Israel Adesanya and Khamzat Chimaev will ever happen. The UFC middleweight champion is expected to fight Jared Cannonier next, Chimaev is currently slated to fight Gilbert Burns, although the bout is not yet official.
