Jon Jones looks finally set to make his debut at heavyweight and there are plenty of options for him next. Stipe Miocic is a name that has been talked about recently but there is another UFC heavyweight that has called out Jones, Alexandr Romanov.
Alexandr Romanov is coming off of a dominant win over Chase Sherman at UFC Vegas 53 and he wants big fights next. He is a scary contender in the heavyweight division and he may be punching up with his latest call-out.
The UFC heavyweight spoke at the post-fight press conference and made it clear that he wanted Jon Jones next. Alexandr Romanov wants to challenge himself next and thinks he would make for a really good matchup.
Article Continues Below“I have heard that ‘Mr. Bones’ wants to come back in the game,” Romanov said via MMAFighting. “This will be very good because he has very good wrestling too and I think this will be a very interesting performance in the UFC.”
Alexandr Romanov is realistic and understands that a fight with Jon Jones would be tough to book next. There is another UFC heavyweight that he would be interested in fighting next if Jon Jones does not happen.
“Now I need to make some fights and become a contender [for] this belt, but before this I want a fight with [Augusto] Sakai and we will watch [what happens] with the belt.”
It will have to be seen if the UFC books Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic next. Alexandr Romanov has plenty of options and he could find himself in the title picture very quickly.
