It's fair to say Luke Rockhold is not a fan of the UFC's deal with Venum. Venum took over from Reebok a few months ago and many felt like it was an improvement.

It mostly stems from the fact that the deal was done without the input of the fighters. Something Luke Rockhold was very vocal about when he appeared on Ariel Helwani's The MMA Hour.

Apparently, Rockhold isn't a fan of having a snake on his uniform. He compares it to other sports and how they don't have a snake on their uniform, they have a more sport-appropriate logo.

“You know what sucks? Is wearing a fucking snake on my goddamn fucking thing,” Rockhold said (transcription by Shaun Al-Shatti). “Who the fuck wants a snake on the UFC [uniforms]? Do you the NBA or the fucking MLB, they’ve got a fucking snake on their outfit? What the fuck is this shit? That pisses me off. I don’t want to wear a snake on my outfit. Basketball players got a basketball player. Baseball players got a baseball player. And then look at what we got — a fucking snake.”

The snake in question comes from Venum's logo. The logo goes with the brand's name as the snake has big fangs that resemble the kind that has venom.

Venum is not the most well-known company in sports but it is well known and respected in MMA. Many felt it was an improvement over Reebok as they would know what kind of gear is best for fighters.

For Luke Rockhold, the best gear is one without a snake on it.
