The long-awaited Uncharted movie, which entered production in 2008 way before Naughty Dog released almost all of the games, will finally be in theaters this year. The film, starring Tom Holland as a young Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Drake's mentor Sully, will come out later this year. Here is when Uncharted movie's release date is going to be.

Uncharted Movie Release Date: February 18, 2022

The Uncharted movie will be released in theaters on February 18, 2022. The movie will release a week earlier in the UK on February 11, 2022.

The Uncharted film casts Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, a young treasure hunter posing as a bartender in Manhattan. There, he meets an older treasure hunter named Sully, played by Mark Wahlberg, who was actually originally supposed to portray Nathan Drake. The film will explore the two's uneasy relationship as they start out in their partnership, which eventually develops into a father and son relationship in the games. Tagging along with them is a fellow treasure hunter and Nathan Drake's love interest Chloe Frazer, played by Sophia Ali. Antonio Banderas plays Moncada, a ruthless treasure hunter racing against Drake and his colleagues and who serves as the film's main villain.

After a very rocky development cycle, Uncharted finally started filming in May 2020 and ended in October of the same year. The film adaptation borrows scenes heavily from the games but sometimes does not follow the game in terms of sequencing of events. Sometimes, some details are also changed to fit the film's narrative. The film will focus mostly on Nathan Drake's early adventuring days – stories that we only see as flashback cutscenes in the games.

Uncharted fans are surely thrilled to revisit the franchise. The game's last entry was released in 2017, after all.
