Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer addressed the media Wednesday afternoon. He gave very brief answers when asked about the situation involving Everson Griffen. “Really the only thing I can comment on is for his health and well-being and for his family,” Zimmer said at the beginning of the video posted to twitter.

He mentioned twice that Rick Spielman, the Vikings general manager, will be able to talk more about the situation later on.

When asked about Griffen's availability for the Vikings upcoming road trip to San Francisco this weekend, Zimmer responded:

“That's really not our concern right now. It's really about him.” Another reporter asked the head coach if the defensive end was safe. Zimmer replied, “I don't know.”

He said that the team is handling the situation “pretty good” and said that he addressed the situation with the team Wednesday morning. Zimmer said that even with this going on, the team has a job to do this weekend. They will attempt to improve their even record to 6-5 against the 49ers Sunday evening.

This media appearance comes after the team made an official statement regarding Griffen's concerning social media posts. According to the statement, “Vikings representatives and the team’s mental health professionals have been on-site at Everson Griffen’s home since early this morning and are cooperating with law enforcement.”

It is clear right now that the priority of the team is to ensure Griffen's safety, as well as the safety of his family.
