The injury bug has been merciless this season, hitting players hard since the very first games of the 2017-18 campaign.

No one has been safe from what seems like the angry basketball gods' cruel desire to see teams fight through tough adversity almost randomly. Some of the most gruesome falls have happened to stars and role players alike, while their teams fight to find ways to win.

The defending champion Golden State Warriors are no exception to the injury bug with Jordan Bell, David West, and Stephen Curry missing games late in the season due to injuries, and now it's sharpshooter Klay Thompson who is expected to be out for at least a couple of weeks, according to coach Steve Kerr, due to a fractured right thumb.

Right in the midst of a push for homecourt advantage, the Warriors could use Thompson's shooting and the staunch defense he plays on opposing guards as the team tries to gain the top spot from the Houston Rockets.

Thompson is hardly down about the situation and did, in fact, find another way to make himself useful Wednesday night when the Warriors faced off against a hot Los Angeles Lakers team at Oracle Arena.

The 6-foot-7 guard took the opportunity to join his father and ex-Lakers player Mychal Thompson in the media booth. Thompson calls Lakers games for ESPN radio 710 and he spent some time with his son, making last night a rare father-son collaboration.

It was certainly a different view from which the younger Thompson sees the floor, but he appeared to enjoy himself overall, even if he couldn't be on the hardwood.

Both men enjoy being around each other and have a great relationship, with Klay once calling his father his No.1 advisor due to wise tips he gives on life, finances, and many other things.

The ex-Showtime Lakers big man also enjoyed his time in the booth Wednesday evening, except on the part where the Lakers fell short and the Warriors carried home the victory 117-106.
