With the Golden State Warriors currently chasing the Houston Rockets for the first seed in the Western Conference, they understand that every game is important for them to win, to give them a better shot at finishing the regular season on top of their conference and guaranteeing home court advantage throughout the playoffs. However, it only gets more difficult for them in the next two weeks, as they will likely miss the services of Klay Thompson over that stretch.

The development was confirmed by head coach Steve Kerr himself, according to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, as the four-time All-Star suffered a thumb injury on Sunday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Already without Stephen Curry, who is currently recovering from an ankle injury, the Dubs are very thin in their backcourt, with Quin Cook and Shaun Livingston receiving extended playing time. With Thompson slated to miss significant time as well, it could be Nick Young's chance as well to prove his worth and help fill the void left by the 28-year-old Washington State product, especially with his ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc.

The Warriors are now two games behind the Rockets with only 15 games left on their schedule. Despite their challenging situation, they still have Kevin Durant and Draymond Green to lead their charge, and are both expected to be ready to take on a bigger role while their superstar teammates are recuperating and trying to get back to 100 percent the soonest.
