This NBA season has been a tumultuous one in terms of the relationship between the referees and the players. There have been numerous incidences already in which the two sides have demonstrated the apparent enmity between them on the court. The NBA has clearly taken notice of it, and is, in fact, planning to have its referees sit down and meet with each and every team during the All-Star break in an attempt to address the issue before it gets out of hand.

For Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant, though, the meeting is going to be just an exercise in futility, per Melissa Rohlin of the Mercury News.

“It’s a matter of what are they trying to get accomplished,” Durant said after Warriors’ practice Friday. “If they’re trying to go and have a therapy session between the refs and the players, it’s pointless to do that.

“No player is going home at night thinking about a ref, what they said to a ref, and going to sleep mad at a ref. And vice versa. They just need to make sure all the rules are clear because they switched up the rules this year.”

Kevin Durant is perhaps one of the most intriguing figures in the NBA in this matter of the players’ strained relationship with the game’s officials. For one, he is tied with Dwight Howard for second overall in technical fouls with 10. Durant’s teammate, Draymond Green, paces the rest of the league with 11.

Durant's brushes with the referees do not seem to affect the Warriors at all, as the team owns the best record in the league. But whether Durant likes it or not, it seems that the meeting would push through on Feb. 17.
