Stephen Curry has been compared to LeBron James and several all-time greats after leading the Golden State Warriors to another NBA Finals appearance. Interestingly, sports analyst Colin Cowherd took the conversation up a notch and compared him to Michael Jordan.

For Cowherd, Curry is the most influential player in the history of the NBA–even more impactful than Michael Jordan–because of how he changed the game for good. Cowherd is not saying that Steph is the new GOAT, but in terms of overall influence, the Warriors star is just ways ahead of the rest.

“I don’t get people who don’t get Steph. He’s the most influential player ever. Michael Jordan had influence in marketing and style, clothes, winning at all costs. I’m not saying Michael did not have influence, he didn’t change the game. He was just the greatest player for a long time in the game. Literally, all of basketball is different because of Steph Curry. High school, AAU, college, pro, international–Steph Curry,” Cowherd said.

The FOX Sports commentator even took it as far as to highlighting how Stephen Curry won before Kevin Durant came along, while Michael Jordan didn't even win until the Chicago Bulls got Scottie Pippen. Now, Curry has a chance to win the Larry O'Brien trophy again with the Warriors even after Durant left him, something Jordan failed to achieve after he parted ways with Pippen.

Of course NBA fans will have some issues with Cowherd's take. He might be oversimplifying it and undervaluing the contributions of Jordan to the game, especially since MJ basically paved the way for the modern NBA to grow.

Nonetheless, he makes a good point in saying that Curry is the most influential player ever, if not of his generation. At the end of the day, it's just hard to compare what players on different eras achieved.
