SAN FRANCISCO — The Golden State Warriors finished a seven-game homestand on Saturday by taking down Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets. The victory gave the Dubs a 6-1 record in those games. The key to the Warriors' success over this stretch has been their team defense, and although they're missing Draymond Green, they have continued to have the best defense in the NBA.
Since Green's absence, the head of the spear has now been All-Star starter Andrew Wiggins.
“Every game my mindset is to go out there defensively and disturb the other team and do what I can to make it hard for them,” Wiggins told ClutchPoints. “When Draymond is out there, it just makes everyone’s job easier. Draymond is all over the floor defensively guarding one through five, getting charges, blocking shots and steals—everything.”
The Warriors own the league's best defensive rating by a significant margin. They also collect the most defensive rebounds in the NBA, rank second in steals and fourth in opponent's paint points.

In Green's absence, everyone has stepped up for Golden State. It was a struggle in the first few games on both ends of the floor, but once the Warriors made up their mind to defend things have started to go in the right direction. The commitment to play defense has helped them be dominant the last seven home games and they plan to continue that dominance on the road.
Next, the Warriors will play Jalen Green and the Houston Rockets. The last time these teams met was January 21st at Chase Center, when Stephen Curry hit the first game-winner of his career.
