Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers showed some love toward Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose while discussing Klay Thompson's Achilles tear with Warriors reporters on Thursday.

Myers said Thompson and Rose are two of the most popular players in the league and everyone respects them for a couple of reasons.

Warriors fans know Derrick Rose has undergone four knee surgeries since winning the MVP Award in 2011 with the Chicago Bulls. However, he's never given up on his basketball journey and has worked extremely hard on his craft despite going through a lot of trials and tribulations.

During the 2018-19 season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Rose captivated the entire NBA world by scoring a career-high 50 points on Halloween against the Utah Jazz, the team that waived him in the previous season after acquiring the youngest MVP in NBA history from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry and head coach Steve Kerr both said Rose's performance was moving and inspirational since the Chicago native has been through so much physically.

If anyone can relate to what Klay Thompson is going through right now, it's Rose. Thompson missed the entire 2019-20 season for the Warriors recovering from his ACL tear and now he's going to miss the 2020-21 season after tearing his right Achilles.

Rose, who sat out the 2012-13 season with the Bulls because of his ACL tear, suffered a meniscus tear in his right knee just 10 games into the 2013-14 season, so Warriors fans are aware he knows firsthand what it feels like to rehab an injury and then suffer a new one right after.
