Is it really a Golden State Warriors game if the referees don't penalize Draymond Green for losing his temper? That's not a question worth asking on Sunday as the norm played out to the tee in Game 3.
With the Warriors trailing midway through the second quarter, they were assessed a turnover over an alleged backcourt violation. One that on replay looked to be a wrong call.
Draymond Green got visibly upset over the referees' error and was vocal in his disagreement of the ruling. That earned the Warriors star a technical foul, which he was asked about after the game.
“Yeah, it was fair. I got really upset. It clearly wasn't a backcourt and then I got a tech for saying, ‘That's whack.' So yeah, I was pissed off. But thanks, it helped me play a lot better. Appreciate it,” said Draymond during the Warriors presser.
Instead of letting things get out of hand, Draymond Green channeled his fire into on-court production. His box score line was decent, if not ho hum. He finished with 10 points, five rebounds, and five assists on the night.
But it's never about just the numbers for Draymond. His energy and effort were electric the rest of the game, helping fuel Golden State for a Game 3 win. Sometimes these technical fouls do pay off in the end.
