Draymond Green has been into four championship parades before with the Golden State Warriors, but for him, nothing tops their latest one in San Francisco.
In the latest episode of his podcast, Green got real on what made their 2022 parade so different from the others. For him, the fact that Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson seemed to have the best time of their lives during the celebration made it pretty noteworthy.
“After having three parades in Oakland and then coming to San Francisco and having a parade, I was a little skeptical about it because I just didn't know what to expect,” the Warriors vet admitted. “… But if I'm ranking parades … I think that may have been the best parade.
“Why was it the best parade? A few reasons. Number 1: Stephen Curry was acting up, and you just never see that. When we won before, Steph didn't act up. Klay Thompson was acting up. I mean this man, by the way … stumbled five steps then he runs over a girl and immediately catches his balance. … If that girl was not there, that ends badly for Klay.”
It's easy to see where Draymond Green is coming from here. The Warriors had a lot of viral moments during their recent celebration, and it's quite clear they really enjoyed it.
Who could forget Stephen Curry dropping the mic and doing his “Night Night” celebration in one last parting shot to the Boston Celtics and his haters? Who didn't laugh when Klay Thompson lost his hat during a boat ride on the way to the parade and then lost one of his championship rings once he arrived?
It's memorable to say the least. And perhaps after missing the playoffs the past two seasons before eventually returning to the top, the Warriors just couldn't help but savor the moment even better.
