The Golden State Warriors were able to take a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Portland Trail Blazers. Power forward Draymond Green is hoping that a potential sweep will allow them a few extra days of rest before the NBA Finals.

Golden State is all too familiar with the rigors that come with playing this late into the season, and Green admits it would be nice to sweep Portland and allow some of the veterans to rest up for the next round:

“I think it's very motivating for us to try to sweep the series and have that time off,” Green said, per Mark Medina of The Mercury News. “Obviously, we're a little banged up. Days off would be great for us. Allow Andre [Iguodala] time to heal, Shaun's [Livingston] old. Also, allow the possibility of Kevin [Durant] and DeMarcus [Cousins] to get healthy and come back as well.”

Green's comments are certainly understandable. The Warriors have played in a significant amount of games over the last several years during their championship runs. There is no question that their success has taken its toll from a physical standpoint, and Golden State is starting to feel some wear and tear. This makes every day of rest a crucial one for them at this point.

Green had pointed out that if the Warriors had taken care of business in the previous rounds, perhaps the roster would not be dealing with the injuries they suffered in the later games. They will have a chance of avoiding the same mistake by potentially sweeping the Blazers on Monday. It should be noted that the Milwaukee Bucks will be looking to emulate Golden State by wrapping up their series against the Toronto Raptors as well.
