Draymond Green: washed? Nah. The former Michigan State star and Golden State Warriors point forward is just getting started.
In Friday night's lopsided 118-97 lashing of the Denver Nuggets, Green posted two points, 12 rebounds and 19 assists. It's as uneven a box score as one could paint, and one that hasn't been seen in seven seasons.
Green's 19 assists ties a career-high he set earlier this season in a Feb. 26 win against the Charlotte Hornets, and his helpers created 47 Warriors points against the Nuggets.
- Of his 19 assists, nine of them created a 3-pointer for Golden State.
- Stephen Curry (13) scored the most points off of his assists, but Green didn't find him with an assist until the 8:39 mark of the third quarter.
- Kelly Oubre Jr. (11 points), Mychal Mulder (10), Andrew Wiggins (eight), Juan Toscano-Anderson (three) and Jordan Poole (two) also scored on Green passes.
- Green had five assists and four rebounds in the first quarter, three assists and two rebounds in the second quarter, seven assists and four rebounds in the third quarter, and four assists and two rebounds in the fourth quarter.
- Playing 33 minutes in the victory, Green notched a rebound or assist every 1:03.
- His first assist came 11 seconds into the game: a 3-pointer from Mulder.
For the 2020-21 campaign, the Warriors veteran is averaging a career-best 8.5 assists per game, which is certainly offsetting a career-low 25.5 percent shooting from the arc. More impressive, he keeps doing this with one of the best shooters in the league, guard Klay Thompson, sidelined for the season following a preseason ACL setback.
