After years of toiling in the backburner, Gary Payton II has truly found a home with the Golden State Warriors. He has shown that he belongs to the NBA with his speed, toughness, and athleticism. Traits that, of course, he gained from his Hall of Famer dad.

Payton has also provided some jaw-dropping highlights in his breakout season for the Warriors. In fact, many wanted to see him join the Slam Dunk Contest in the upcoming All-Star Weekend, but the 29-year-old dynamo declined to leave it up to younger guys.

The Warriors will still have a representative though in forward Juan Toscano-Anderson. But for Payton, JTA isn't even the best dunker among his teammates. When asked by NBC Sports Bay Area who would win in a Warriors-only throwdown affair, Payton had a clear answer.

“I'm giving it to Jonathan (Kuminga). Yeah, fresh legs! Fresh legs. He's springy, he's springy. He gets high enough. He can do a lot of movements in the air. It's just on Jonathan if he wants to bring them out.”

While the 19-year-old rookie definitely has hops, he hasn't shown much yet during games. But he's been balling out recently, so perhaps it's just a matter of time until Kuminga makes more rim-rattling jams.

An all-Warriors dunk-off should be a thing though.
