There is no doubt that the Golden State Warriors helmed by Steve Kerr is one of the best-assembled teams in NBA history. Yet their recent game against the Utah Jazz, looked like a throwback to the days when the franchise was struggling.

The Jazz handed the Warriors their first 40-point loss since 2006. The Jazz won, 119-79. According to Basketball Reference, the Warriors' last 40-point loss came on December 4, 2006 against the San Antonio Spurs. The final score was 89-129.

In their pummeling of the Warriors, six players scored in double figures led by rookie sensation Donovan Mitchell who scored 22 points. He also chipped in three rebounds and an assist. He shot 8-of-12 from the field and 4-of-5 from downtown.

Other players who notched double-digits in scoring were Derrick Favors (16 points), Rudy Gobert (13 points), Ricky Rubio (13 points), Jonas Jerebko (14 points, and Jae Crowder (11 points). The Jazz shot an impressive 53.3 percent from the field.

The Warriors, on the other hand, just could not find the basket. They shot just 34.9 percent from the field, 26.3 percent from downtown. Former scoring champ Kevin Durant merely scored 13 points. Klay Thompson managed to score 23 points but shot 33.3 percent from the field.

The Warriors played without Steph Curry who's out with an MCL sprain. They were able to run their offensive sets properly but the shots just weren't falling for them.

They are still an excellent team with Durant, Klay, and Draymond. But with Curry, they are certainly one of history's best. The game tonight shows how valuable Curry is to the team.
