Jacob Evans did not exactly see much action during his rookie campaign with the Golden State Warriors this past season, playing in 30 games and averaging just 1.3 points over 6.8 minutes a night.

While it's tough for a first-year player to get playing time on a team as stacked as this past year's Warriors, Evans is still disappointed in his production during his rookie season:

“Last year was disappointing for me. But I don’t really care how anyone else looks at it,” Evans said, according to Mark Medina of The Mercury News. “Knowing what I can do on the basketball court, I wasn’t able to do that at the level I know I could.”

Evans, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Cincinnati, was originally selected by Golden State in the first round (28th pick overall) of the 2018 NBA Draft.

The 6-foot-6 wing is already taking names of people who have doubted him:

“A lot of people count you out, like the writers. Y’all are going to talk your stuff and get your stories, but I just stay with it,” Evans said. “I’m not an underdog. But a lot of people have doubts and questions about me. I just keep that in mind.”

Of course, Evans should have a much bigger opportunity going into next season, as Klay Thompson will be out for a large chunk of the year as he recovers from a torn ACL and both Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala are gone.

The Warriors will start Summer League on Wednesday, and Evans will get a chance to show his stuff.
