Tuesday was a rough night for Golden State Warriors guard Jacob Evans.

The Warriors announced on Thursday that Evans, who exited Tuesday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks after being elbowed in the face, suffered a concussion and a broken nose as the result of the contact.

Per NBA rules, Evans will enter the league’s concussion protocol:

Jacob Evans has appeared in 21 games this season for the Warriors. He's averaging 4.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 30.8 percent from the field, 37.0 percent from beyond the arc and 82.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Warriors selected Evans with the 28th overall pick in the 2018 draft. He played his college ball at Cincinnati.

In 51 games with the Warriors, Evans is putting up 2.6 points and 1.1 rebounds.

Golden State has the worst record in the Western Conference. The Dubs are only 9-33 and won't make the playoffs for the first time in the Steve Kerr era. Kerr joined the Dubs in the summer of 2014.

The Warriors, after going to the Finals five straight seasons, are not elite anymore. Superstar point guard Stephen Curry is out with a broken hand and All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson is still rehabbing his ACL tear.

Two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant, of course, is gone after signing with the Brooklyn Nets in free agency and Andre Iguodala was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies to create cap space for the Warriors to sign D’Angelo Russell, who like Draymond Green, has dealt with injuries this season.
