SAN FRANCISCO — Six minutes is the amount of time Golden State Warriors rookie Jonathan Kuminga played in his NBA debut. He was 1-of-4 from the field, and the first basket of his career was a three-pointer. Kuminga was active on defense as well. He earned the first steal of his career in those quick six minutes.

The 19-year-old received the game ball from the team, then spoke with the media after the game.

“It felt great. I have been waiting for this moment. Everyone had been waiting for this moment. The crowd went crazy just waiting for me. It felt great being out there,” Kuminga told ClutchPoints.

Kuminga's NBA debut came in a blowout victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder, so there wasn't any pressure on him to perform well. But your first NBA appearance alone has to be enough for some butterflies. All that you've worked for is finally here, and all eyes are now on you.

“I don't really get nervous about the game anymore. I just don't feel nervous. I was just happy to be out there,” Kuminga said.

Kuminga hasn't had much time to practice this season. He suffered a knee injury in the preseason that held him out a few weeks. Conditioning and finding a rhythm is necessary, and Kuminga understands.

“That is pretty much what I am looking forward to, just to go back out there and start practicing with the whole group and just have a feel of the game and just keep doing what I got to do,” Kuminga told ClutchPoints.

It's going to take some time for Kuminga to be fully ready to contribute with the Warriors. But it will be fun watching him grow from a rookie to one day being a star. Welcome to the NBA, Jonathan Kuminga.
