Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson believes that former teammate DeMarcus Cousins will have a great season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Cousins decided to join the Lakers in free agency this summer, signing a one-year, $3.5 million deal. Thompson told Arash Markazi of The Los Angeles Times that he's going to miss Boogie and that the Purple and Gold is lucky to have him.

“I’ll miss him [Cousins]. I know he’s going to be a huge asset for the Lakers,” Thompson said. “When they slow it down, he’s so good on the block and such a great decision maker. People don’t realize what a great decision maker he is. Above all, I love his will to compete. He was very hurt last year during our Finals run but he was still out there making a huge impact and getting double-doubles and he won us a couple games, honestly.

“He’s just such a gamer and I’m going to miss competing with him. L.A. got a very good player, who’s very hungry. I know he’s eager to get out there and show everybody he’s still one of the best players in the world because he has all the talent.”

Two years removed from the Achilles injury that caused him to miss half of the 2018-19 season, Cousins is hoping to play at an elite level once again. He had some great stretches with the Warriors last campaign, but he obviously looked rusty at times.

Still, Boogie is determined to prove himself and to remind the rest of the league of how good he once was. Cousins believes he can regain his All-Star form, and Thompson feels the same way.

The Lakers are expected to start give Cousins a prominent role alongside Davis next season. Cousins noticeably lost a lot of weight this offseason, perhaps to lessen the risk of yet another career-altering injury.

One could argue that Cousins has signed another ‘prove it' contract, and he seems to be okay with that. He understands that unless he dominates the league once again, he will never get the big contract he's seeking. More than the money though, Cousins just wants to play out there and win a ring.
