Klay Thompson generally seems like an extremely chill fellow who cruises through his accomplished life with a relaxed, positive attitude. Whether he's winning titles, messing around in China, hanging with his bulldog Rocco, the Golden State Warriors sharpshooter doesn't project a ton of dissatisfaction or displeasure with his circumstances.

Even despite the devastating torn ACL he suffered in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals that kept him out for the entirety of the Warriors' 2019-20 season, Thompson appeared to be handling his rehab in stride.

However, behind that carefree facade, Klay is a fierce competitor. And according to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, Thompson is justifiably crushed at the fact that he wasn't able to participate in the shortened 2019-20 campaign.

“It you love playing that much, then not playing is just devastating,” Kerr told KNBR's Tolbert, Kreuger & Brooks, per NBC Sports. “He really struggled this year not being able to play, and just not knowing what to do … because he couldn't really do a whole lot in rehab. There was a lot of rest in the beginning, and then the team would go out on the road.”

Beyond his stellar shooting and defense, Thompson's personality makes him a beloved teammate.

“Klay loves to be part of the group, bashing on each other and joking around. I just think he really missed everything this year, the whole experience. So I know he can't wait to get back out there,” the Warriors coach added.

After five straight runs to the NBA Finals, the Warriors — sans Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry — plummeted to the bottom of the standings in 2019-20, finishing with a league-worst 15-50 record. With a healthy roster and possibly a top draft pick on board for the 2020-21 campaign, Thompson and Golden State expect to be right back in championship contention.
