Klay Thompson is broadly expected to re-sign with Golden State Warriors in free agency next month. Before both player and team commit to one another for the long haul, though, it stands to reason that both parties would prefer to have a timeline in place for Thompson's return to the floor. One problem: He's still yet to go under the knife.
Warriors general manager Bob Myers said on Wednesday that he has no update on Thompson's status, noting that the five-time All-Star hasn't had surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

In the third of Game 6 of the NBA Finals, Thompson landed awkwardly on his left knee after a dunk attempt in transition on which he was fouled by Danny Green. Though he initially began making his way back to the locker room, Thompson was quickly called back to the floor to shoot free throws, which would allow him to return to the action later if he was deemed healthy enough to play by Warriors doctors.
Later in the second half, the television broadcast showed him leaving Oracle Arena on crutches. Thompson's agent announced after the game that his client had suffered a torn ACL.
Thompson was putting together another classic performance in an elimination game before going down, scoring 30 points on just 12 field goal attempts. He was similarly brilliant on both ends throughout the rest of the championship series, too, despite missing Game 3 with a hamstring strain. Regardless of when he has surgery, expectations are that the 29-year-old Thompson will sign a multi-year max-level deal to remain with Golden State.
