Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors set an NBA record with 14 makes from downtown Monday night against the Chicago Bulls. This is more than what Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird drained in one season.

As per Rodger Sherman of The Ringer, Bird made only 11 three-pointers in the 1981-1982 season on 52 attempts. In that season, he played a total of 77 games.

Thompson, meanwhile, made 14 threes in 24 attempts all while playing less than 30 minutes. In the process, he broke Stephen Curry's record of 13 three-pointers in one game.

Bird, who has won the 3-point contest three times, is revered as one of the greatest shooters of all time, making this an even more astounding achievement for Thompson. It's a testament to the fact that we're in the presence of one of the greatest offensive talents in the world.

Check out the clip below as posted by the NBA, featuring the record-breaking 3-point shot:

As observed, Curry was celebrating after the made basket. He probably knew that his record was broken but didn't care that much. He was simply happy for his Splash Brother for adding another achievement to his name. Klay Thompson, for his part, was pumped up. It's as if he's been itching for this night to happen.
