Klay Thompson has shown to have a thing for Game 6 elimination games, seemingly saving the best of his offensive firepower for times when the Golden State Warriors are pressed between the sword and the wall.

The marksman posted a postseason-high 35 points to lead all scorers in Game 6 against the Houston Rockets, soundly busting out of his three-game slump from Games 2-4 by hitting 13-of-23 from the field and 9-of-14 from distance.

His performance showed a resemblance to a 2016 playoff onslaught that saw him drop 38 points against the Oklahoma City Thunder, making a blistering 11-of-18 from deep to keep the Warriors above water and eventually come back from a 3-1 deficit into the NBA Finals.

“I don’t want to go home. Not tonight. I don’t want to go home,” Thompson yelled out during the game in a show of emotion captured on the big screen at Oracle Arena, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. “I just like competing. If you go out there and play hard and with passion, you can live with the results. That’s what I’ve learned.”

Thompson has surely left it all out there for his team, never ceasing to play outstanding defense, despite only combining for 31 points from Games 2-4.

“I think he got most of his confidence on the defensive end, cause he played amazing,” said his backcourt mate Stephen Curry. “Just trying to get into James and make it tough on him, make or miss, he can live with his effort.”

The 6-foot-7 sharpshooter had a decent 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting in Game 5, though it came in a losing effort, making this performance so needed for his confidence heading into a pivotal Game 7 tonight at the Toyota Center.
