With just a year remaining on his current deal and no firm talks of an extension in place, rumors about Klay Thompson's future with the Golden State Warriors continue to be in limbo. However, it appears that his father, Mychal Thompson, has some insider knowledge on his son's future plans.

Recently speaking to Scott Ostler of the San Francisco Chronicle, the patriarch of the Thompson family virtually guaranteed that Klay intends to extend his deal with the Warriors. In fact, Mychal strongly believes that his son will see out his career in Oakland.

“Oh yeah, you can mark it down,” said Mychal Thompson. “Klay’s going to retire in the Warriors’ uniform. He’s going to play at Chase Center (the Warriors’ new arena, opening in 2019), and he’s not going to be at Chase Center as a visiting player, he’s going to be a Warrior for the next seven or eight years.”

According to reports, the main issue standing in the way of Thompson and his extension is its price tag. He is owed $18.9 million this year, and considering how big a role he has played for the Dubs, Klay would be in a rightful position to ask for at least the same amount of money next season.

The Warriors will need to do a lot of financial maneuvering in order to get this done. The fact is, the other four members of the Hamptons Five are already looking at a combined salary of almost $110 million next season.

Nonetheless, Mychal Thompson seems to know something we don't, which makes him very confident that his son will remain a Warriors for next season and beyond.
