The Golden State Warriors have been arguably the best team in basketball throughout the first half of the season, and they stand to get a significant boost for the second half of the year. Star shooting guard Klay Thompson has been out for over two years after suffering a torn right Achilles in a workout while he was recovering from a previously torn ACL. The fanbase has been anxiously awaiting his return, and it seems that their patience is set to pay off.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Thompson is slated to make his return to the Warriors on Sunday for their matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Warriors are anticipating to have Thompson in the rotation as early as January 9 after they return from a two-game road trip that will see them play against the Dallas Maverick and New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

After those games are out of the way, the Warriors return home to host the Cavaliers, at which point the team is expecting to have their superstar sharpshooter back in action. Thompson last played in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors after suffering a torn ACL. Amid his road to recovery from that injury, he sustained the Achilles ailment that cost him the entire 2020-21 season.

Thompson, 31, has spent his entire career with the Warriors, making five All-Star teams and playing a pivotal part in bringing three NBA championships to the Bay. The fan favorite has been missed, but he will be getting his first chance to play in over two years. Gear up, Golden State. At long last, No. 11 will be back in action.
