The frenzy emanating from the ESPN-produced docuseries “The Last Dance” stemmed ideas for other documentaries, including one detailing the 2006-07 Golden State Warriors during their popular “We Believe” season.

Matt Barnes, a key cog in that team, noted plans to produce it got put on hold temporarily, but the NBA journeyman assured fans the crew will get the gears rolling “sooner than later:”

“It kind of got put on hold, but it's actually rolling now,” Barnes said on “Bonta, Steiny & Guru” on 95.7 The Game. “Myself, Baron Davis, Jack (Stephen Jackson) — we're getting the crew back together. We've assembled a solid team behind to help produce and direct it.

“Hopefully that'll get going once we find some sort of normalcy back in this country. So I'm hoping within the next few months we'll jump back on that project. But myself and Baron, we're doing all kinds of political (things) right now. So that's kind of been put on the back-burner.

“But that is definitely coming sooner than later.”

Those “We Believe” Warriors mustered the eighth seed in the West with a 42-40 record and went onto face the title-favorite and top-seeded Dallas Mavericks in the first round, taking them out in six games.

While they lost the next round matchup against the Utah Jazz, Barnes and those Warriors were hugely popular during an era where the franchise struggled to get much right.

“I think it's gonna be fun. I think the fans are gonna enjoy it. I think the fans are gonna be amazed by what kind of team we really were on and off the court. Seeing the inside stuff and hearing about it,” said Barnes. “We were a wild bunch, but we loved to play basketball and we loved each other. And we loved being able to do that for the Bay Area.”

Davis, Jackson, Barnes, and coach Don Nelson will soon be popping up in screens soon enough, though the production can take a few months to complete — likely rolling the timeline into next year.
