Despite some rumors of the Golden State Warriors potentially trading away their second pick prior to the draft, the Dubs eventually decided to keep their pick and gamble on 7-foot-1 big man James Wiseman.

The former Memphis standout emerged as one of the most promising big men in his draft class, and for his part, Warriors superstar Stephen Curry appears to be very much looking forward to sharing the court with the 19-year-old rookie.

Curry had nothing but good things to say about Wiseman, and expressed just how much potential he believes the youngster has with the Warriors:

“I think his demeanor – you can look at his physique and the raw, natural talent that he has, but when you talk to a guy that just has that look in his eye, like, ‘I’m just ready to learn, I’m ready to work’ – I don’t think he’s afraid of the challenge. That says a lot,” Curry said, via of Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. “He obviously has to go out and prove it, and we’re going to be tough on him early to put him in the right mindset, what it takes to be successful in the NBA. But he’s got it.

“I’m excited, man. He could be a once-in-a-lifetime-type of talent in terms of what he can physically do on the court and how he sees the game. It’s going to be great for us.”

The Warriors suffered a huge blow when they lost Klay Thompson to injury for the upcoming season, but the addition of guys like Wiseman provides a much-needed boost for a squad that will be looking to challenge for the 2021 title.
