Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is already considered by many to be the best shooter of all time. However, when most fans think of his shooting ability, they think of his uncanny accuracy from over 30 feet away from the basket. Curry is just as impressive from 15 feet away at the free-throw line.

Tom Haberstroh of NBC Sports did a deep dive with Curry about his free-throw routine and how he got to be nearly perfect from the line. Curry claims that he focuses on not just making the free throw, but swishing it in practice:

“That’s part of my routine when I practice. I have to make five swishes out of 10 to end every workout. It’s like you set a bar for how you want to see the ball to go through the basket every time. Even ones that go in but don’t feel right, as a shooter, it doesn’t feel good.”

By focusing on perfection, Curry has become one of the best free throw shooters of all time. Haberstroh points out how close Curry is to making history in these playoffs:

“The only person in NBA history to shoot better on at least 100 free throws in a postseason is Dirk Nowitzki in 2011 when he made 175 of 186 (94.1 percent). Curry is at 94 percent.”

Constant work and attention to detail have made Curry one of the best, if not the best, shooter of all time from both the 3-point and the free-throw line.
