It has been an inauspicious start to the career of Philadelphia 76ers guard Markelle Fultz. After playing in just the first four games of the 2017-18 NBA season, Fultz was shut down by the Sixers indefinitely with a shoulder injury.

That said, there has been plenty of uncertainty surrounding the first pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Despite the small sample size, Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry still thinks Fultz has serious NBA potential after watching the young guard at his basketball camp some years back, according to Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports Philadelphia:

“You knew right away what kind of potential he had in the league,” Curry said.

The two-time MVP also mentioned the added pressure of being taken with the No.1 overall pick in the draft.

“The hardest thing is dealing with people’s expectations and the hype around you,” Curry said. “I don’t even know what it’s like being a No. 1 pick and having to deal with that. That’s part of the learning curve too. Hopefully he’ll be able to keep his confidence through all this.”

Curry was famously overlooked in high school and through the NBA until he started making waves a few years into his career. Despite the lack of hype early on, the two-time MVP also dealt with his fair share of injuries before rising to stardom.

Fortunately, it seems Fultz may have a chance to prove Curry's confidence was not misplaced as the Sixers are supposed to have a ‘positive' update on him soon. Fultz was averaging 6.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 19.0 minutes prior to being sidelined.
