The general consensus is that the Los Angeles Lakers will fire Luke Walton from his head-coaching position at the conclusion of this season, but Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is throwing his full support behind Walton:

“I wish him the best for the future,” Curry said after the Warriors' 108-90 win over the Lakers on Thursday night, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “Who knows what will happen. But he’s a great coach. Anybody would be lucky to have him leading the team.”

Walton served as an assistant coach for the Warriors for two years and also filled in for Steve Kerr in leading Golden State to a 39-4 start during the franchise's record-breaking 2015-16 campaign, so Curry has more than enough experience with Walton to know that he can coach.

As a result of Walton's impressive stint with the Dubs, the Lakers hired him as their head coach during the summer of 2016.

Walton has gone just 96-147 thus far at the helm in Los Angeles, winning 26 games during his first year and following that up with 35 wins last season, a decent improvement.

However, with LeBron James arriving in LA back in July, lofty expectations were immediately placed on the Lakers, and with Los Angeles currently owning a record of 35-44 and being out of the Western Conference playoff picture, Walton's job is in severe jeopardy, and at this point, it would be surprising if he were back with the Lakers next season.

Remember: Walton was not hired by Magic Johnson, who took over as LA's president shortly after Walton was named head coach.
