Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry left during the third quarter of Friday night's 106-94 victory over the Atlanta Hawks due to an MCL sprain in his left knee and did not return to play. According to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the former Davidson standout will undergo MRI scans on Saturday.

JaVale McGee bumped into Curry's knee by accident while the two were playing defense under the hoop.

“I was just trying to block a shot and I ran into him,” McGee told ESPN's Chris Haynes after Friday night's game.

Curry, who was returning from a six-game absence due to a right ankle injury, did not speak with the media after Friday's game. In his 25 minutes of action against the Hawks, the former No. 7 overall pick (2009) scored 29 points on 10-18 shooting from the field

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was asked to comment on Curry's injury during his post-game media availability.

“We'll see what the MRI says tomorrow,” Kerr said. “There's not a lot we can do or predict. Kind of a strange, cruel twist of fate, you know. He rehabs his ankle for the last couple of weeks, gets that strong, and then the knee goes. So we'll see what happens. Keep our fingers crossed.”

Despite his injury, coach Kerr tells Haynes that Curry was still in good spirits.

“I talked to him,” coach Kerr said. “He's disappointed, but that's part of it. You just keep pushing and see how it goes tomorrow.”

The Warriors — now the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference standings with a 54-18 overall record — will be back in action on Sunday, as they're scheduled to host the Utah Jazz inside Oracle Arena at 8:00 p.m. EST.
