Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is hopeful his defensive stalwart Draymond Green can return in the near future. The helmsman offered as much after the team's morning shootaround prior to Friday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“I hope so,” said Kerr. “I haven't talked to him, I haven't talked to Rick (Celebrini), but that was the original prognosis with the finger [injury]. We'd re-evaluate him in a week or 10 days or whatever it was, so we're getting close to that time.

“Hopefully it'll be soon.”

Green has been sidelined since last week, missing the team's last three games against the Charlotte Hornets, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Houston Rockets. The Warriors don't expect to have him back on Friday against the Timberwolves or on Saturday against the Oklahoma City Thunder, as he stayed behind with head trainer Rick Celebrini to work on rehabbing his injury.

The earliest possible return would be Monday home game against the Utah Jazz or a Wednesday road game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Green has put up 9.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists through the early part of the season, once again dealing with injuries to start the season, as he did during the 2018-19 campaign.
