Stephen Curry doesn't exactly strike fear in the hearts of opponents on the defensive end. Some have criticized him for being an alleged liability on defense, with the Golden State Warriors hiding him in several schemes.

But in recent years, Curry has made a huge leap in terms of defense, as he's made it a point to become a better one-on-one pest. While he's far from being a Defensive Player of the Year candidate, the two-time MVP is not a total slouch either.

In Game 1 of their second round series against the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA Playoffs, Curry blocked the hyper-athletic Ja Morant with only 19.8 seconds left and the Warriors holding on to a one-point lead. It was a key defensive stop, allowing them to eventually escape with a 117-116 win.

When asked about Curry's defensive effort, Warriors coach Steve Kerr paid him the ultimate compliment, per the report of ESPN.

“Steph has been underrated defensively for a long time. I think this was the best defensive season of his career. We saw that all year long. I thought it was just a brilliant defensive play by Steph.”

Kerr has marveled many times at Curry's otherworldly shooting, but to declare that this season has been the best of the superstar guard, at 34 years old, was quite the recognition.

Curry, who remained calm after the ejection of Draymond Green, was also pleased with himself after stopping Morant, and he'll definitely be more confident in helping to contain the Grizzlies in Game 2 on Tuesday.
