Golden State Warriors guard Patrick McCaw has seen his playing time cut significantly over the last couple of weeks. The second-year player has lost minutes to veteran Nick Young in the wing rotation, and as Warriors head coach Steve Kerr explains, it’s because it's been difficult to play both McCaw and Young at the same time when the Warriors are at full strength.

McCaw is just experiencing the unfortunate reality of the Warriors’ situation this season. They are so deep at just about every position to the point that even a promising young player like Patrick McCaw can’t find consistent minutes.

However, McCaw got the rare chance to start against the Sacramento Kings due to the absence of Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry, and he made the most out of his opportunity. He put up 16 points, seven assists, and four steals in 33 minutes as the shorthanded Warriors suffered a shocker of home loss to the Kings.

Patrick McCaw is unlikely to see as much playing time once the Warriors get all of their missing players back. However, his excellent performance when called upon will almost surely stick in Steve Kerr’s mind and could help earn McCaw a few more minutes going forward.
