SAN FRANCISCO — The one thing everyone knows about the old Klay Thompson is he's what people call a bucket. The Golden State Warriors star once scored an NBA record of 37 points in a quarter without missing a single basket.

After being sidelined for two consecutive seasons, the star guard is starting to find his rhythm. In his last two games, Thompson scored 69 points. Steve Kerr called his game on Thursday the best game he has played this season, and he knows they're going to need him to play this way in the postseason.

“In the playoffs, your best players have to perform,” Kerr told ClutchPoints. “I really like where Klay is now. I think he's strung together some good games, and he just looks more comfortable and more relaxed.”

Thompson’s return to the court hasn't been all smooth sailing, but he's starting to peak at the perfect time right before the playoffs. Thompson is now up to 19.7 points per game on nearly 38 percent shooting on 3-pointers.

Thompson's shooting percentages are down compared to his career numbers, but in his last four games, they're more in line. The three-time champion is lighting it up, shooting 44.1 percent from the field and 40 percent from deep. Kerr credits his improved shooting to better shot selection.

Kerr believed his star wing's struggles came from forcing things and not letting the game naturally come to him. Thompson has looked like a different player of late, and if he can remain this version of himself, other teams are in big trouble.

The Warriors have two games left this season, one against the San Antonio Spurs and the other against the New Orleans Pelicans. Kerr said that Thompson is only playing in one of the last two before the playoffs begin.
